People may access one or several of these areas depending on what best supports their situation.
Mentoring focuses on helping individuals navigate their current situation and move forward with clarity and purpose. Sessions often focus on practical strategies, personal growth, communication, decision-making and creating positive change.
While reflection on past experiences may come up, the primary focus of mentoring is the present and future, helping people take ownership, build healthier patterns and move toward the life they want to create.
Counselling and therapy are typically provided by qualified mental health professionals and often focus more deeply on emotional healing, trauma and psychological treatment.
Our ongoing mentoring support also includes follow ups between sessions, practical tools, resources, follow-ups and accountability to help individuals implement what they are working on in real life.
If someone requires clinical or therapeutic support, we always encourage seeking help from the appropriate qualified professionals.
Yes, in some situations we can work with both parents.
If both parties are open to support and communication is respectful, we can assist both individuals separately or together where appropriate.
Our priority is always the wellbeing of the children and helping parents move toward calmer, healthier communication.
Most sessions take place online via video call, allowing people to access support from anywhere.
In some cases, face-to-face sessions or community meetups may also be available depending on location.
Yes, everything shared in our sessions is confidential unless disclosure is required by law (e.g., safety concerns).
No.
While we can provide general guidance and share practical insights, we do not provide legal or financial advice.
If needed, we may recommend speaking with qualified professionals such as lawyers, mediators or financial advisors.
In many cases, our mentoring packages or multi-session support options include limited communication between sessions for clarification, guidance and accountability.
You will be advised of the appropriate guidelines, including the times and availability for this communication, which is generally within set hours and days to ensure support remains structured and manageable.
Sessions can usually be rescheduled with appropriate notice. The specific requirements for rescheduling are outlined in our Terms and Conditions.
If the required notice is not provided, the session may be forfeited in line with those terms.
Mentored by Stephen Hirst primarily supports adults and young people navigating important stages of life.
For young people, the Future Legends mentoring program is generally designed for teenagers and young adults, typically from around 13 years of age onwards. Every young person is different, so suitability is assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the program is the right fit for their needs, personality and goals.
For adults, support is available across a wide range of areas including parenting, separation, co-parenting, confidence, communication, mindset, life transitions and personal development.
If you're unsure whether you or your child would be a good fit, feel free to reach out and arrange a conversation to discuss your situation and goals.
Many young people participate simply to build confidence, improve communication, develop life skills and gain guidance from a positive role model.
Yes. Stephen Hirst holds a current Queensland Blue Card and is authorised to work with children and young people.
Stephen is the founder of the Dads Community, one of Queensland's largest grassroots communities supporting fathers and families, and has spent years mentoring, supporting and guiding individuals through challenges relating to confidence, communication, mindset, relationships, parenting and personal growth.
Future Legends is not counselling, therapy or psychological treatment. Instead, it is a mentoring program focused on helping young people develop confidence, resilience, communication skills, emotional awareness, personal responsibility and a positive direction for their future.
Stephen brings a combination of lived experience, mentoring experience and a genuine passion for helping young people become strong, respectful and capable adults. He works closely with parents to ensure mentoring is tailored to the individual needs, goals and circumstances of each young person.
Yes. Parents will generally receive updates regarding attendance, participation, progress and any significant milestones or areas of focus throughout the Future Legends program.
At the same time, mentoring works best when young people feel safe to speak openly and honestly. For this reason, not every conversation will be shared with parents. A balance is maintained between keeping parents informed and respecting the trust required to build a positive mentoring relationship.
If any concerns arise relating to a young person's safety, wellbeing or risk of harm to themselves or others, parents or guardians will be informed as appropriate and in accordance with legal and ethical responsibilities.
The goal is to create a supportive partnership between the young person, their parents and Stephen, helping everyone work together towards the young person's growth, confidence and success.
